The Rainbow Mountain, known locally as Vinicunca, is a place that feels almost unreal. Your adventure begins early as you leave Cusco and travel south through the Andes toward Cusipata. After approximately two hours on the road, you’ll enjoy a buffet breakfast there before continuing along the mountain route to the trailhead.

The hike takes you through a wide valley where locals care for their alpacas and llamas, with the Ausangate glacier visible in the distance. As you gain altitude, the landscape gradually changes until the Mountain of Seven Colors finally appears at the summit. Reaching the top is a special moment — take time to capture photos, enjoy the views, and appreciate being at over 5,000 meters above sea level.

During the descent, you have the option to visit the Red Valley viewpoint. This stop should be coordinated with your guide, depending on the group’s pace and timing.

After the hike, you’ll return to Cusipata for a buffet lunch before heading back to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon near the main square.
