The Teach & Trek Program is more than just a course — it’s a five-week journey that blends professional growth with cultural discovery. In the heart of Cusco, you’ll train to become a certified English teacher while experiencing daily life with a local host family. And to crown it all, your adventure ends with an unforgettable trek to Machu Picchu.
First Week: Arrival & Welcome To Your New Home
Your adventure starts the moment your plane lands. Our friendly team will be waiting for you at the Cusco airport (pick-up days vary). We’ll take you straight to your local homestay, where your host family will be excited to welcome you.
Weeks 2–3: TEFL Training (Theory and Practice Activities)
Weeks two and three are where everything comes together. You move beyond theory and begin practicing what real teachers do every day. Through guided practice activities and mini lessons, you learn how to plan effective classes, explain grammar clearly, and create activities that keep students engaged and motivated.
Week 4: Practical Teaching Week & Graduation
Week four is where you truly step into the role of a teacher. After weeks of preparation, you begin teaching real local students in a real classroom. Each day, you teach a one-hour class, giving you time to apply what you’ve learned and build confidence at your own pace.
Weeks 5: Trek to Machu Picchu
After weeks of learning and teaching in Cusco, the final week is all about reward and adventure. You’ll head out on your journey to Machu Picchu, choosing the route that fits you best. The Salkantay Trek (5 days) takes you through dramatic mountain landscapes, high passes, and open valleys, while the Inca Trail (4 days) follows the famous ancient path, passing ruins and stone trails on the way to the Lost City.

When does the program start, and when should I book?
Program start and end dates vary depending on the month. You can check all available dates in the booking calendar on the program page. We strongly recommend booking at least three months in advance, as Machu Picchu entrance tickets and train tickets are limited and often sell out early.
Who is this program for, and do I need teaching experience?
This program is designed for native English speakers or non-native speakers with a C1 level or higher. No previous teaching experience is required. If you’re unsure about your English level, a TEFL trainer can arrange a short video call to assess it before you book.
What will I do during the TEFL course?
During the first three weeks, you’ll focus on TEFL training through guided practice activities and mini lessons that help you build real teaching skills. In the fourth week, you’ll teach real local students in daily one-hour classes. A trainer will be present in the classroom as an observer and will give you personalized feedback after each lesson to help you improve with confidence.
How does the program finish?
The program finishes with a Machu Picchu trek. You can choose between the Salkantay Trek (5 days) or the Inca Trail (4 days), both operated by certified local operators.
Where will I stay, and are meals included?
You’ll stay with a local host family in Cusco for the full duration of the program, from Sunday to Sunday each week. Three meals per day are included during your stay.
Will there be support while I’m in Peru?
Yes. Airport or bus station pick-up and drop-off are included, and local support is available throughout the program to assist you whenever needed.
Do I need a visa or travel insurance?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality, so it’s important to check the rules before traveling. Travel insurance is required to participate in the program.
What if I want to stay longer in Peru after the program?
If you’d like to stay longer in Peru, we’re happy to help you arrange additional nights of accommodation and recommend or organize other tours so you can continue exploring the country at your own pace.
